To Scare or not to Scare:  Haunted Maze - Nightmare Playground "13 Nights of Terror" event held at the Alliance for the Arts in Fort Myers, Florida.

Not your usual 'pop-up' type of event.  The Foulds Theatre and campus become a nightmare playground with haunted attractions, live shows, markets, and interactive activities, bringing in thousands of people from across Southwest Florida.  This chilling experience has been planned out, being prepared for quite some time, and should provide fun for all who dare....

Collier County commissioners have unanimously approved plans for a new Costco in East Naples, despite overwhelming public opposition from the community.

The decision followed a contentious four-hour hearing where dozens of residents raised concerns about increased traffic, safety, and potential flooding.

The proposed 162,671-square-foot store and 24-pump gas station will be built at the corner of Rattlesnake Hammock Road and Collier Boulevard, adjacent to Physicians Regional Medical Center.

Out of sixty registered speakers, only one voiced support for the project.

Opponents, feeling their voices were ignored by the board, have now vowed to challenge the county's decision in court.

If final site plans are approved by county staff, construction on the controversial project is expected to begin in early 2026, significantly altering the Hacienda Lakes area.

The Collier County Planning Commission has unanimously approved a massive new housing development near Marco Island, paving the way for nearly 1,300 homes.

The project is set to rise on a 229-acre site near the Fiddler’s Creek area.

This is a significant moment for local housing advocates, as the plan directly addresses the region's pressing need for more affordable options.

A crucial component of the development is a partnership between developer David Torres and Habitat for Humanity of Collier County.

While Torres will construct 1,039 market-rate homes, Habitat for Humanity will build and sell 260 affordable homes to local families earning at or below 80% of the area median income.

The proposal now heads to the Board of County Commissioners for final approval, where it will require a supermajority vote to officially proceed.

Kiwanis & Rotary Happy Hour For Hope at Paddy Murphy's

On October 27th, the Marco Island Kiwanis Club and The Rotary will host their event, Happy Hour For Hope, which is a fight to end hunger, especially of children.  The gathering starts at 4:30 PM and will go until 6:30 PM.  There will be live entertainment by Rosetta Stone, Complimentary Appetizers, and happy hour priced drinks.  They have a suggested donation of 20$ but it can be any amount to benefit the cause.  Come out to support ending hunger next Monday!

Marco Charter Middle School's volleyball team won the championship title against Everglades City School, finishing the season unbeaten.

The teams battled fiercely, but Marco Charter Middle School emerged victorious, clinching the title with a 25-19, 25-19 victory.

The players exhibited strong teamwork and determination, with Coach Jodi Pree praising their efforts.  Pree’s team finished with a perfect 12-0  season and then finished the season, winning the playoffs.

The girls' enthusiasm and dedication to the sport were evident throughout the game, with both teams showing excellent sportsmanship.

The win was a culmination of hard work and commitment from the players and coaches, resulting in a well-deserved victory for Marco Charter Middle School.

MIA Varsity Volleyball Girls Take Second Place in Districts and are Preparing for Regional Tournaments, Kicking off Tuesday, October 21st, at 6PM in the MIA Gymnasium
